July Blog Hop: Around the World

Welcome to my blog! You should have hopped on over from Caren's blog. I loved her projects! Today we will be featuring the stamp set Around the World from the new Stampin' Up! catalog found on page 48.

I made two projects to share with you all today. The first is a simple card and the other is a cute bookmark.

This card came together in a matter of minutes with the help of the new note cards and envelopes bundle Stampin' Up! sells on page 162. Perfect for the busy stamper! I stamped each of the three images on a separate sheet of Whisper White cardstock and then cut them out with my paper snips. Dimensionals go behind them to make the card not look so flat. Some linen thread was wrapped around a Whisper White piece of cardstock that I trimmed to fit the card. The button came from the Naturals Designer Buttons pack on page 169. I really wanted to use the airplane that came with the stamp set, and when I couldn't incorporate it into the card, I just decided to stamp it on the envelope!

I don't know why, but when I was trying to think of a project to make for the blog hop, I instantly thought of a bookmark! I stamped the three images on Whisper White cardstock and then cropped them out with the 1-1/4" Circle punch. Each of the circles were distressed with a sponge and some Smokey Slate ink. The Real Red base was heat embossed using Pool Party embossing powder and the Positively Chevron background stamp. After rounding the corners, I used the Chalk Talk framelits to make a hole at the top to tie some Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Here is a closer look at the heat embossed chevron print.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my projects and please leave me a comment below and tell me which one was your favorite. Now hop on over to Denise's blog! I can't wait to see what she has made :)

Heat Embossed Swallowtail Card

The second I saw this stamp set in the Spring Mini I fell in love. All of the intricate details within the stamp get amplified with the new Pool Party Embossing Powder. Simply gorgeous!

To give the card some contrast, I stamped the butterfly on Island Indigo cardstock, which was then layered on top of a square piece of Pool Party cardstock.

This sentiment comes from the stamp set Fabulous Phrases, a favorite of mine! I stamped it in Calypso Coral ink and then cropped it out with the modern label punch. Beneath that is a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock  using the Petite Curly Label Punch.

Thanks for checking out my blog! If you have any questions about how to make this card or if you would like to order Stampin' Up! products, email me at calitx06@aim.com.
